International Cooperation Tools in the EU Seventh Framework Programme
The International Workshop “International Cooperation Support Tools in the EU Seventh Framework Programme” was held on October 15-17, 2008 by the State University – Higher School of Economics. The workshop was the first event in the series of regional workshops orgained under the INCONTACT project.
The Objectives of the workshop
- Building regional capacity with regard to FP7 understanding and improving the ability of officially designated FP7 National Information Points (NIPs) in Russia and EECA to carry out their responsibilities to promote FP7 participation in their countries.
- Providing a basis for networking between the NIPs and promoting cooperation and coordination between different countries in the regions with regard to the promotion of FP7 participation.
- Promoting networking between the NIPs and EU MS/AC INCO NCPs to share experiences and identify best practices in provision of NCP services and to create a platform for future cooperation with regard to FP7 participation through fostering the appropriate integration of NIPs into European NCP networks.
- Raising awareness among participating European FP7 INCO NCPs of the potential for researchers in the regions to participate in FP7 as well as the challenges related to such participation and modalities to best promote cooperation with the participating regions.
The support of the European Commission made it possible to bring together National Information Points for the Seventh Framework Programme from ten EECA countries (Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Moldova, Republic of Armenia, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan). National Contact Points from EU and associated countries (Austria, Estonia, Germany, Greece, Italy, Sweden and Turkey) came to Moscow to take part in the Workshop, to share their experience and exchange ideas with their EECA partners. During the first day of the workshop the participants got an overview and an update of the Seventh Framework Programme. The second day was be devoted to sharing information and best practice for NIP activity. At the end of the second day a specialised workshop “Support to EECA-NCP's/NIP's” was held by IncoNet EECA participants. The third day was focused on “Mobility of researchers: prospects for cooperation and Russian initiatives” and “Strategic and operational issues of NCP/NIP activity, networking among NCPs/NIPs”.
